ஒருவர் கூறாமலேயே அவர் மனதிலுள்ள எண்ணத்தை அறிதல் ‘குறிப்பறிதல்’ ஆகும்.  இந்த ஆற்றல் உடையவர் கண்டிப்பாக மற்றவரை விட ஒரு படி மேலே மதிக்கத்தக்கவர்.  வள்ளுவன் இத, மிக அழகாக “உருவத்தால் ஒன்றானாலும் வேறு” என்று அறுதியிட்டுக் கூறுகிறார்.

A minister often has to intuit what is in the mind of a king without being told explicitly.  This also applies to modern times where on has to ‘manage’ one’s boss. This very important skill is known as ‘Kuripparithal’ in Tamil, or being able to take a hint (elliptic?).

Valluvar underlines the importance of this virtue by comparing two people who are otherwise identical, say twins.  The mere presence or absence of this ability clearly differentiates them enough that there can be no confusion between the two.  Hence this capability is very valuable.
